About Loreto

Loreto is located on the Sea of Cortez just a couple of hours south of the U.S. border. This is a destination for those who need a couple of days or a long weekend out of the office. It has nice beach and a slow paced atmosphere that allows for quiet time or evenings with adult beverages at one of the local clubs.

Loreto has an incredible number of restaurants for a town of its size. They include a very good Chinese restaurant, (the China Inn), good pizza (Teds Place II) and too many great Mexican restaurants to mention. Try, The Taco Factory or the El Nido Steakhouse.

The lodging options are varied and range from the very humble up to three or four stars. Because there are no big chain hotels in Loreto the standards they hold themselves differ and make a little bit of research before you arrive very important. That being said, there are accommodations for those seeking rooms from just a few dollars a day up to a couple of hundred. There are several properties that provide clean, modern rooms for not much more than $50 a night double. There are also many R.V. parks with full hookups and many have elevated palapas with a sea view. Kayak and A.T.V. rentals are available and the surrounding countryside has many unique attractions. There is an airport that does not currently have any scheduled commercial air service but the word is that it is coming possibly even in 2006.
